What the evidence is telling us.

Data stories from Fikir's published studies, and the research agenda the firm is building toward. A data story reports what was found. An agenda item describes a study not yet fielded.

Translations from Somali are lightly normalised for spelling with meaning preserved. Social-media findings are signals from an engaged public, not population-level opinion.

Data stories

Telecoms

Reliability is now a brand promise, not a back-office metric.

A mobile-money apology drew about 1,200 comments. Of 625 coded, only one in nine clearly accepted it. 11% suspected a deliberate or political cause; four in five critics tied the outage to a pattern or demanded compensation; a visible cluster named the competitors they were moving to. The Fikir read: vagueness is what lets a political-shutdown narrative grow. Explain the real cause plainly, compensate visibly, break the recurrence story, and answer the critics rather than leaving the post to a pile-on.

Banking

The bank will steal my idea.

Of 2,001 replies to a financing question, about one in twenty pushed back on the bank itself. Thirty-eight comments, roughly half of all sceptical voices, feared idea theft. The fear is not irrational: no visible safeguard, a lopsided exchange, stories that travel, and thin institutional trust. The Fikir read: this fear suppresses exactly the applications a bank wants most. Fix the exchange before fixing the message.

Banking

The public confirmed three prompts and added one.

Asked what they would invest in if financed, 1,556 people named a sector: business and trade 41%, land 34%, farming 23%. Livestock surfaced unprompted at 9%; vehicle finance, which was prompted, underperformed. The Fikir read: de-emphasise vehicle financing as a headline and add a livestock track. The public is already asking for it.

Telecoms

Customers did the arithmetic in public.

A special discount on bundles drew 451 comments. Of 226 coded, 17% argued the price had barely moved and showed their working; 12% benchmarked rivals in real time. Critical comments outnumbered positive ones two to one, and they cited exact prices. The Fikir read: the offer was judged against the market, not in isolation. Calling a flat price a big discount invited the backlash it was meant to prevent.

Financial services

Goodwill is earned by the gift. Trust is kept by proof.

An $800,000 drought donation drew the warmest response in the set: 41% of 447 coded comments praised or blessed it, 7% were critical. Underneath sat a sincere minority asking whether the help reached people, and 4% asking for wells rather than rice. The Fikir read: show the delivery, name the durable projects, report back when it is done.

Financial services

A tribute to a national voice, and the brand beside him.

Sponsorship of a veteran broadcaster's memoir launch reached 3.6 million views and 2.2 thousand shares. Of 157 coded comments, 45% celebrated the man or the moment; 3% were critical; 32% named or honoured the journalist directly. The Fikir read: a clean cultural win. Warmth toward the man transferred, quietly, to the brand that chose to honour him.
